Completely self taught, I followed my brother's example and started playing bass guitar - playing in a number of bands (as below) from 1979 to 2003. Guitar naturally followed and again I taught myself to allow me to write and record all the material that was in my head. Guitar effectively became my primary instrument from 2004 when I formed The Shine with Andy Keates. Although very basic, I also learned how to lay down some keyboard chords - again for recording purposes. I'd never inflict my lack of keyboard skills on an audience! Always one for a challenge, I added mandolin to my arsenal in 2009 and since 2007 have been attempting to learn flute! Music
